The customer experienced significant Category 3 water damage in their living room, Bedroom A, Bedroom B, Bathroom, Nursery, and hallway, primarily stemming from a broken water line behind the bathroom sink. Initial moisture readings indicated maxed-out levels in carpets and drywall, requiring extensive mitigation.
Our team promptly responded to the Category 3 water damage. Initial work included comprehensive water extraction from carpets in the living room, bedrooms, and bathroom, along with content manipulation and thorough moisture inspections. Following discussions with the homeowner and asbestos test considerations, a multi-phase demolition process began. This involved making 2-foot flood cuts in drywall across all affected areas (living room, bedrooms, bathroom, nursery, hallway) and removing all impacted drywall, insulation, baseboards, and door trims/jams/doors that came into contact with contaminated water. The shower in the bathroom was also entirely demoed due to moisture reaching the ceiling. During demolition, a supply line to the bathroom sink was damaged, necessitating a temporary shut-off of the water main and street water, followed by extraction of water from the broken pipe and a permanent repair with a sharkbite cap, restoring water service. Equipment was strategically placed, including two dehumidifiers and an AFD, with a plan for additional air movers and a bio-wash to dry out wood sill plates. Baseboard heaters, toilet, and pedestal sink were removed, and remaining contents were manipulated. Finally, all equipment was disconnected, stacked, and picked up once the icy driveway was accessible, and containment was taken down, ensuring a complete restoration process.
