The customer required urgent professional restoration services following a Category 2 water loss that impacted their basement and shop area. The intrusion compromised structural components, including wood panelling and cabinetry, and necessitated the salvage and decontamination of a large volume of personal property, including specialized collections like dolls and bears.
Our team implemented a rigorous mitigation and contents recovery program in compliance with S500 standards: Contents Restoration & Inventory: We performed a detailed, multi-day inventory of all personal property. Affected items were treated with botanical antimicrobial sprays, wiped down, or steam-cleaned (for soft goods like bears and dolls) before being securely packed and stored in a stabilized environment. Controlled Demolition: To access affected structural components and ensure proper drying, we removed compromised 4x8 wood panels, trim, outlet covers, shelving, mirrors, and damaged stair carpeting. We also removed the shop door to facilitate better airflow. Environmental Stabilization: Deployed a specialized drying ensemble including two dehumidifiers, two air scrubbers, and high-velocity fans. We conducted regular service checks to monitor moisture levels and repositioned equipment to ensure all structural members reached dry standards. Sanitisation: Applied professional-grade antimicrobial treatments to all exposed framing and cleaned surfaces with botanical solutions to ensure a safe, decontaminated environment for reconstruction.
